Biomass in Greece is characterized by a diversity of locally abundant raw materials and can have multiple uses depending on the type and the potential for its final utilization (production of thermal power and electricity, liquid biofuels, etc.).
The type and origin of the various biomass raw materials is combined with a large number of agricultural activities (harvesting of crop residues such as wheat straw, cotton stalks, logging, disposal of livestock waste, etc.) as well as the introduction of new energy crops in the agricultural system.
Due to its direct connection with agricultural production, it can be a source of additional income and job creation for the local communities in the context of integrated and sustainable national and regional planning.
Biomass energy production is one of the main axes of development of Renewable Energy Sources in our country and is part of the priorities of the business plan of PPC Renewables SA.
