PPC’s Board of Directors, following the completion of all necessary financial and legal actions, has approved on 13.4.2018, the acquisition of the EDS company which is active in the electricity trading and supply and is based in FYROM. The price amounts to € 4.8 m.
This acquisition is part of the strategy of expansion of PPC's activities abroad and specifically in the Balkans region where it aims at becoming a leading force in view of the upcoming integration of electricity markets promoted by the European Union.
Group EDS is a dynamically growing company in the electricity trading and supply in FYROM. It was founded in 2012 and has subsidiaries in Serbia, Slovakia and Kosovo. It is a member of the Hungarian Power Exchange (HUPX) and it has electricity trading licenses in Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Bulgaria and Hungary. It is one of the major participants in the liberalized part of the supply market in the neighboring country and it provides electricity to large industries and businesses. Its customer portfolio includes 40% of corporations with more than 50 employees, with a total capacity of 320 MW. EDS has all the conditions to dynamically grow through the gradual liberalization of the electricity market in FYROM which is underway. Regarding the retail electricity market in Serbia, EDS already has a customer portfolio of 10 MW at the end of its first year of operation.
