ANNOUNCEMENT
Following a request from the Capital Market Commission, PPC confirms that on 17 July 2014 the European Court of Justice ("ECJ") issued its decision on the appeal lodged by the European Commission that seek to have set aside the judgment of the General Court of the European Union, by which the General Court ("GC") annulled Commission Decision C(2008) 824 final of 5 March 2008, on the granting or maintaining in force by the Hellenic Republic of rights in favor of PPC for the extraction of lignite. In particular, GC's annulled decision accepted two out of the five parts of the first of the four pleas raised by PPC in its appeal dated 3 May 2008. The decision in question annulled the Commission's Decision ‘without it being necessary to examine the other complaints, parts and pleas submitted’. ECJ's decision on July 17 accepts the Commission's appeal, sets aside the judgment of the GC and refers the case back to the GC for adjudication on the pleas raised before it on which the ECJ has not ruled.
PPC will support this judicial procedure in the General Court of the European Union for these remaining pleas.
