In relation to a press article published today which states that the future operation of the lignite power plant Meliti remains uncertain, PPC S.A. clarifies that, taking into account the lower demand during the weekend 31/10-1/11 and the increased availability of its plants, and especially the lignite power plants, ceased the operation of the Meliti unit from Friday night (30/10) till Tuesday morning (3/11), in order to allow for the building up of lignite reserves from a low level of 6 days as of Friday 30/10 to safer levels in anticipation of a difficult period ahead, in terms of weather conditions.
